Etiquette Pointers for Playing with Your Golf Group
Playing with your golf group can help you sharpen your skills in swinging your clubs while enjoying time with your mates too. Since you get to play on the courses together, you can be more comfortable in exchanging pointers and training techniques. However, the bond you develop should not be an excuse to act like an amateur when you are participating in a practice tournament. Your attitude towards the game, from the first teeing ground all the way to the eighteenth hole, will determine how good of a sportsman you are. Here are some etiquette tips on how to play like a professional golfer.
First, when it is your turn to hit the ball, make sure that your companions are already at a safe distance before you swing your club. Second, make sure that you shout out a warning by yelling "Fore!" when your golf ball is flying towards other players on the green. Third, yelling, cursing, or throwing your iron towards anyone or anything is unacceptable behaviour from pros, even when you make a bad shot. This rule still applies to those instances when you have to deal with golfers who never seem to run out of stories and jokes even when someone is about to tee off. This leads us to the fourth tip, which is to keep quiet and to avoid unnecessary movements when your co-player is about to take a swing. Fifth, do not go past the putting line or stand in a location that could distract your group mates. Lastly, repair the divots and ball marks that you create on the fairway or green, as well as the damages that your golf shoes can leave on the course.
